Huck Finn is a hot item today! It’s being dropped from all humanistic reading lists. Public schools won’t touch it with a ten foot pole. Huck isn’t politically correct.
The author, of course, is relating another, earlier mindset that embarrasses the duty sociologists and psychologists. Christians should approach Huck with anticipation and good humor.
The author presents typical unbelieving attitudes about the Church and about society. God’s people can and must learn the lessons that are posed here. At the same time they will be mightily "cultured" and entertained.
