Phonics D
All the basic concepts of
phonics having been covered in levels A-C, Modern Curriculum Press
Phonics D is offered as an optional book for Covenant Home students
needing further practice, or students who have not come through our
program with a strong emphasis on phonics.
In addition to reviewing previously taught concepts, level D will
include: words with qu, silent letters, comparative forms (-er, -est),
many more suffixes and prefixes, plural forms for words ending in ss,
z, x, sh, ch, and y; f, fe, and o. Adding to the list are:
irregular plurals, singular and plural possessives, roots: pos, pel,
port, ject; duce, duct, tract, spec, spect, scribe; alphabetical order,
guide words, entry words, and definitions; and different spellings for
the same sound.
The comprehensive Teacher's Resource guide includes visual, auditory
and kinesthetic activities for different types of learners as well as
activities for integrating spelling and writing with phonics. A
complete set of assessment tools is provided.
