Students focus on the rules of grammar in the first semester, learning such things as phrases and clauses; agreement of subject-verbs, indefinite pronouns, compound subjects, collective nouns; usuage of pronouns, verbs, and modifiers; and more. During the second semester the emphasis shifts to composition. Among other things, students complete a family history, a letter poem, an advice letter and a research paper.
