Students focus on the rules of grammar in the first semester, learning such things as sentences, fragments, run-ons; parts of speech; complements, phrases, and clauses; regular and irregular verbs, case, use of pronouns and modifiers, participial phrases, and much more. During the second semester the mechanics of writing are put to use with paragraph workshops, and various forms of creative, informative, and persuasive writing.
